HMS Audacity. From gaming miniature to 1/700 waterline model.

HMS Audacity's replacement 20mm gun tubs begin with Model Monkey's excellent 3D prints. These are so fine they must be gently cut with a fine saw blade. Applique wood deck is on the way from a US supplier. Plenty of work left to do! Many thanks for having a look.

Edging the canopy in black alleviates the reflection from the flat attachment surfaces. OOPS! Too late. Sorry.

    DAK Meng Kubelwagen

Several of my builds have languished until I practiced a new technique or found other materials. I usually have 6 or more projects underway. They aren't ALL tiny! Or like the 1/350 USCG 110' WPB master, they just don't gel. Model Mojo ebbs and flows. One might think a steering wheel might...

Reset on the Bismarck diorama - back to square 2

"Do-Over!" That happens here quite a lot. Have you tried warming the wood deck with a hair dryer? Heat generally aids the separation of adhesives.

I would post "Up from the Ashes" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang again, but you resurrect so many of these orphaned models it could seem repetitious. :notworthy

It's looking good so far, even without my readers! :good: What a shame it would be to glue all that cool, scale articulation up solid. Your model, your choice.

HMS Audacity. From gaming miniature to 1/700 waterline model.

Drilling the stern gun mount for installing a new 4" gun tub reveals that HMS Audacity is hollow. Remembering the 3D printed Fying Fluck and Missile toad debacle, I drilled a couple of holes in the underside to see if any toxic fluid runs out. None did. Pshwoo! There will be no complaining...

    1/700 Tamiya USS Saratoga CV-3

You have my attention, Sir. The late war USS Saratoga Bay build will be fun to observe! :capsmiley:

HMS Audacity. From gaming miniature to 1/700 waterline model.

Most of us a familiar with Royal Navy Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown and his aerial exploits. Major model manufacturers seem to ignore Winkle's first escort carrier model, in any scale...
