    Czech Model 1/48 Northrop XP-56

Looks great John, I have had one of these in the stash forever and at my age I doubt I will ever get to it

Stopping in to say hi !

Just stopping by to say hi and look to see if I left my plastic modelling mojo here, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Haven't fondled any plastic kits now for over 3 years. The closest I've come to any aircraft modelling is this 3/4" to the foot B-24 wind vane I'm working on. It's just an...

What I did on my sabbatical

I'm glad so many are enjoying my adventures in my dark side hobby. For those wanting to know more about the layout I have a couple of aerial views to share. The layout encompasses a space roughly 60' x 60'. The layout is mostly in the shade so when photographed on a sunny day there is a lot of...

What I did on my sabbatical

Thanks for he comments guys ! Lets see if this will work This is the locomotive shown above starting a train on a section of 4% grade with a 12 car train. The cars are not light weight, most weigh a pound or more and the outside braced steel boxcar weighs close to 3 pounds. As an FYI the...

What I did on my sabbatical

I wasn't sure where to put these but since they are civilian and not military this seemed like the spot. All the structures show are built to 1/24 scale which makes some of them quite large. I also like to build structures that actually existed but do some freelance as well. First up is this...

    Blah

Yes, I'm BACK ! I've been on a bit of a sabbatical from kit building for almost two years now. I decided after my illness in early 2021 that since I was rapidly approaching the 3/4 of a century mark that I needed to make some significant progress on my outdoor model train layout if I ever had...

    I'm still alive !

Just stopping by to say hi, it has been an all train hobby summer and aircraft modeling has been on the back burner although I do have two kits in the queue for the paint shop. When the weather brings an end to my outdoor fun I'll post some of the scratch building things I have been working on...

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

OK, I'm calling this one done. Actually I finished it weeks ago or so I thought but when editing the photos I realized I didn't install the long wire antennas. It wasn't helpful that these weren't even shown in the diagrams in the instructions. Anyway the bench was already re cluttered and I...

Quick look at the Infinity Models 1/32 SB2C-4 Helldiver

In plastic they have a Val and a Vampire in the works for their next two releases.

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

As promised a progress photo, paint and dekkels on, found it hard to get a good shot of a glossy black aircraft and still show the dekkels. It's all down hill from here, may even finish it this weekend if i don't get distracted. Thanks for looking !

Quick look at the Infinity Models 1/32 SB2C-4 Helldiver

A close up of the wing surface detail, the rivet detail is so fine that it will likely disappear under a heavy coat of paint. Structure inside the fuselage, mostly clear of ejection pin marks but no locators for the detail to be added later. Back side of gear doors have no ejector pin marks...

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

Well, I seemed to have lost six weeks, feeling pretty much normal again (as normal as it gets at 73) Trying to get caught up with all the life things I've gotten behind on, and being drug outside to deal with the green stuff and other things has not allowed me much bench time of late. I have...

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

Thanks for good wishes but the tale continues... My doctor said that if I didn't feel better after I finished the meds to go get an X-ray. It showed something in one lung but not enough detail so a CT scan was next. The day following the scan I get a call from the doctor telling me to go to...

I'm not dead yet 🤢 Shortly after my last post I came down with some sort of creeping crud and after a few day with symptoms similar to the dreaded Covid 19 I got tested. Tested negative for 19 so I assumed it was probably just the regular flu and assumed it would run it's course and I'd be back...

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

Thanks guys, the side walls were completed and installed, I temporarily set the IP and front bulkhead in place for these photos, port and starboard The nose guns should be here tomorrow and once those are installed the fuselage can go together and things should come together quickly.

    Do 335B-8

Thanks, I did it that way because I found I'm much better at making blobs than outlining them, It looked a bit stark at first but I went back and did a misting over spray of the lighter color which seemed to help blend it all in and since it fits a luft 46 category anything goes ;)

    Mosquito NF Mk.II

Some small progress, the instrument panel is done and mounted to the forward bulkhead And the balance of the cockpit is done I can't attach the forward bulkhead until the nose guns are installed. I started cleaning them up and decided the kit pieces were a bit lackluster considering how...
