Trumpeter Releases for June 2010

Trumpeter is releasing two more parts to the armored train:

219.jpg
219 1/35 German Br.57 Armored Steam Locomotive
100% NEW TOOL! SRP $189.95
These of armored trains became prevalent during WWII initially on the Eastern Front. Transport through occupied areas of Eastern Europe became dangerous due to partisan groups attacking advancing troops. The Germans considered armored trains a more secure method of transporting equipment through these areas. For added protection of the locomotive, it was often placed in the middle of the train. The loco itself was protected by 13 tons of steel plating making the total weight of this locomotive was nearly 90 tons. The BR.57 had a top speed of 60km/h and had a range of 360km when pulling the cars loaded with vehicles and equipment. Kit consists of 602 parts on 16 sprues plus 8 track roadbed sections. Completed kit measures over 21” long.

1510 1/35 WWII German Army Kommandowagen Armored Troop Transport
Railcar 100% NEW TOOL! SRP $119.95
Armored trains transported not only equipment and supplies, but also troops. The German Kommandowagen was one of the safest troop transport methods since it was equipped with thick steel armored protection plates and a gun. Each Kommandowagen could hold dozens of troops, and each train pulled multiple cars, making the train one of the safest and quickest ways to deploy troops to distant locations. Kit consists of 193 parts on 6 sprues, photo etched turret detail and 5 sections of track roadbed. See also railcars #1509, 1516, 1517 & 1518 which can be added to the Kommandowagen and #219 loco above to form a Br.42 armored train.

This is the first new 1/32 F-14A Tomcat tooling in decades!  One of the best known fighters, the F-14 “A” variant was the initial two-seater all-weather interceptor fighter variant for the US Navy. It was used until 2006. Kit consists of 540+ parts on 28 sprues plus fuselage halves and rubber tires. 2840.jpg

2840 1/48 F-100F Super Sabre Fighter

NEW VARIANT! SRP $59.95
This is the first of its kind in an injection molded plastic in any scale! After the single-seat, supersonic F-100 fighter entered service in 1954, it developed a high accident rate, in part due to pilot inexperience with the new aircraft. So a two-seater training version was built: the F-100F. The F- 100F retained the basic combat capabilities of the F-100D, including six wing hardpoints to carry external stores, but reduced the number of 20mm cannon from four to two. Kit consists of 173 parts on 8 sprues. Completed kit measure over 14” long with a wingspan of nearly 10”.
