Orange Hobby Applique Armour for T-34/76 (Zavod Nr.112)

Orange Hobby Applique Armour for T-34/76 (Zavod Nr.112) Review
This Orange Hobby "RED Series" photoetch update set is for the AFV Club T34-76 kit #35143. It should also be noted that this set can also be used on the AFV Club kit #35S51 which is the "Special Edition" T-34/76 kit with clear plastic upper hull and turret parts.

This update set consists of one (1) photoetch fret and a small instruction pamplet showing where the various photoetch parts are attached to the T-34.

------------------------------------

Basically, there are five (5) core parts to the fret -

Two (2) parts for the front of the hull (upper [6BF] and lower [5]). No bending work is required here and the parts can simply be attached to the T-34 after the removal of the "bullet splash guard" below the drivers hatch on the front upper hull.

The other three (3) main parts [7TB], [1TR], and [2TL] are for the turret. Some minor amount of bending is required along the weld seams to fit the photoetch to the right and left sides of the turret, but this would be an easy and straight forward process.

Please note, that on this review sample, the instruction pamplet has mistakenly labeled the left and right parts in that the diagrams show [1TR] on the left side of the turret and [2TL] on the right side.

One of the most amazing parts of this set is the addition of the "welding seams" [3] and [4] that can be cut to various lengths and used to simulate welds on the outer edges of the larger parts. See the closeup photo below which shows the attention to detail on the welds.

An interesting point to note is that the instruction pamplet makes no mention of these parts and where they can be located. I expect that this is up to the modeler to decide as each weld seam would probably have been different on each T-34.

Conclusion
This is a relatively straight forward T-34/76 update set that would be suitable for modelers of all skills, including those just starting out with photoetch, since there is little bending work required to produce great results.

Highly recommended.
