BROKENEAGLE'S PAINTINGS - update 23rd Oct'23- a new sci-fi painting idea.

Small update for those who like Tigers.............
Coming soon - Last Tiger - You guys are the first to see my progress on this but understand that the painting looks a lot better than the image here.

My painting will be depicting the tank going into battle in front of the Brandenburg Gate on the last night of the battle for the Tiergarten, before it was Knocked out/ abandoned in the location in the second photo.
Background is being painted seperately to keep the file size down. Currently just working on the tank. This is a picture of my working screen so the colors have over exposed and distorted so it is not an accurate image, however you can see the images on the screen that I am referencing and the multiple layers in the file displayed (left handside screen).
I am at about 85% with the tank. I still need to work further on the track lineart and the color/ weathering as well as details over the whole tank. I am also going to create a 2 sided unit card with the history of the Unit and a seperate A4 Berlin Map. This one has been a real challenge and the landscape background will be no exception. Anyway I have plenty to do. I will post another update when the Tiger is finished.
If you want some more background see my Tiger tank build of this tank where I researched the unit

Ian.

Thanks you guys, appreciate the comments. They are always a good motivator. This painting has once again been the hardest and most difficult project yet but I always learn something new along the way. With this project it has been the use of filter overlays and 'color to Alpha' filters to adjust my painted color to a more suitable tone without having to repaint the cammo again and again. The digital learning curve is massive.

I can't wait to show you the finished tank - I hated it at first but then I reached that point where it suddenly looked better, just like with my models.
Anyway, thanks for following and I will be back on this soon. Now I need to do some more U-Boat research for that other project!

That build is on my list, kewl to see it as art!
John, one of the aspects of this painting and my model build , has been the swastika on the turret left side. I have been looking into this specifically this week and chatting with some hardcore German armor friends to make sure I don't stray to far. I know you are a good researcher yourself but just be careful of the rubbish on the markings on the net. Basically every profile and model I have seen on the net (except one) has got the position, marking and color wrong. Most of them completely leave out the Swastika on the left side and if it is included they have it clear in between the lines(utilising the color of the cammo underneath) which is incorrect. I have gone with a fading black for the centre but whatever it is it is definately a dark color and darker than any of the shades of cammo used on the tank itself.

Ok, i'm finally back with some art. The tank is finished except for the side cable which I am working on now.
The background is at about 70% and I haven't started on the figures yet but I have begun working on the special unit card details that will go with the Ltd Edition print. I have also decided to do a similar thing to the Me 109's artwork and release a regular print as well focusing on the tank with specs and a faded background[more like model box art).
Anyway I feel pretty good about the Tiger, so here is a first look for MA (before I post any official advert stuff on my FB page).
This is the basic image for a 'coming soon' ad teaser that I will run elsewhere on the net - just the tank to show at this point.
