This is actually a Jimmy Flintstone gear shift knob, it's a about the size of a baseball with a face only a mother could love. I've had it hanging around the shop and frankly, he gets on my nerves staring at me.

I had to do a little surgery on a couple seam lines to restore the texture, then blasted him with a few coats of black Stynylrez primer.

Since he's a toon, I decided to paint him in some garish colors, so his face and ears got some light coats of Tamiya Flat Flesh, letting the wrinkles remain sorta black.

His fez is Tamiya Flat Red. I filled in the overspray by hand with Vallejo Games black, it's got that Elvis shine to it.

I filled in some of the other details with various colors, going to let him dry overnight, then gloss coat him for the dark washes.

I don't claim to be a figure painter, it's something I struggle with. During the hot spell that was July and August 2020, I played around with some oils and inks to try to give this character some mojo.

I'm with you...dabble enough to learn a bit each time, but no where near Andy Fettes or Joe Hudson's caliber....your chimp looks pretty cool though!
