Made the armor plate behind the seat along with 2 hooky radios. Also made a throttle quadrant. Gary S. XLV MMXX

Didn't the stuka have some kind of automatic pull out system from the dive run? I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere. Looking good!

Cockpit is done, added gun sight, crash pad and boxed wing light with decal paper and super glue. Fuselage and wing fit not to bad for the age of the molds. 50 yrs.. Belly window is too far back Separated wing flaps and ailerons.. Oh well I'll paint over it. Air scoops are hollowed out along with the exhaust. Gary S. XLV MMXX

Thanks!! I was disappointed in the thickness of the trailing edge of the wings. Should have done more dry fitting and thinned down the inner surface before gluing. Gary S. XLV MMXX

I'm willing to bet it wouldn't have been much of a dual. The Il-2 was a much more capable aircraft from what I've read.
Found this on Wiki

. Il-2 pilots also often attacked close formations of Junkers Ju 87s, as the 7.92 mm machine guns of the Ju 87 Stukas were ineffective against the heavily armoured Shturmoviks.
The Stuka got out classed real fast in the war.

Yeah, I was reading an account of Hartmann's tour in the Eastern Front. He said about the only way to bring down a Shturmovik was to get under it and shoot out the oil cooler that was unarmored and hanging below the nose.
