1/25th scale Dodge Viper Dragster Update Oct 24

randy_ditton

Master at Arms
While looking for reference pics for my Mopar 440 motor for another project I ran across some photos in 'Mopar Muscle Mag' of a cool looking Viper based in England.

This car is built as a Sportsman/ Pro Mod dragster. The body appears mostly stock, not the greatly distorted 'funny car' type.

My thought is to modify the chassis from the Revell '57 Chevy Sportsman to fit the Revell Dodge Viper body :hmmm :hmmm :hmmm

Here are some reference shots(for discussion only!!!)

The body from the Viper kit.....

The specs on the real viper dragster lists a wheelbase of 110" It looks like they stretched the body out behind the front wheel well and the windshield, I think I can do the same on the model :hmmm :hmmm

Bump up the rear fenderwells to hold the slicks and come up with the hood scoop. Should take care of the body mods.

Mike, Going with a hemi for now, reserve the right to change :)

Oh she is sooo soooo pretty. And going with the Hemi is an aweseome idea.. better than that truck motor they usually have :P

On the engine front, here are some ref pics. The 1:1 car has a 5 Stage Dry sump oil system. This basicly means I to hang a bunch of cool stuff off the motor. Also going to have a remote water pump so I can expose the timing gear and chain...

That is all I've got for now, Thanks for looking!!

Randy

My Wife wants to know if you're like from Switzerland, a watch maker or something...

That's just like freaky cool man!!! If your big ol' thumb wasn't in that last picture it would look real.

I'm going to start checking out the HO stuff a lot more.

But one thing,
035-9.jpg

What's this, how do you get a chain out of this?

Re: 1/25th scale Dodge Viper Dragster

I am completely lost for words.. absolutely amazing work mate! Lovely work on the chassis and rollcage, and that engine is something else!

Cheers

Bob,

He trimmed both sides of the tape and painted it rubber. They are the toothed belts you see driving the cog wheels in the later photos.
