A review of the new Meng British R-R Armoured Car Pattern 1914/1920.

From Wiki "The Rolls-Royce Armoured Car was a British armoured car developed in 1914 and used during the First World War, Irish Civil War, the inter-war period in Imperial Air Control in Transjordan, Israel and Mesopotamia, and in the early stages of the Second World War in the Middle East and North Africa. "
The kit is fairly simple and allows you to make the early armoured cars used during WWI all the way up to the one used in the Dessert in 1942. You get a PE fret with the wire wheels and plastic tyres as well as the heavier plastic hubs with rubber tyres. 4 sprues with "C" being doubled. The turret sides are one piece ans is the body. This looks like a nice quick simple build with a ton of possibilities. The glass pieces are wrapped in plastic and then in a baggy. There are 4 poly caps so the wheels can turn as you go brum brum across the desk imagining you were there....everyone does that right????? There are some sink marks but I think they should be easy enough to clean up. Unfortunately the colour guide does not tell you the units of the vehicles and is kind of general in their description. I'm thinking maybe the cammed WWI version might be Dutch but I have to look more. The WWII schemes are nice with a Caunter version and a version in sand with the huge roundel on the turret top. If you can find info I think the kit could be converted to the open top turret with a Boyes gun and .303 but you would need to scratch the interior. The box top has a very nice Caunter schemed armoured car in action.
I am thinking of making my own decals and building one of the 9 Silver Ghosts belonging to Lawrence of Arabia in Palestine 1917.

For more info I suggest Wikipedia and Tank Encyclopedia as good starts.

Is that turret correct for that style wheels?

"In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security.
They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all - security,
comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again."

Yes it is. The other turret option has a larger commanders hatch and a port for the Boyes gun. I also checked through the Osprey book and I was lucky enough that the Haynes Owners Workshop Manual arrived yesterday.
I haven't finished it yet though so no lid on yet. The third type of turret would involve a lot of scratch building although there isn't really a lot inside.

BTW here are the books:

Well I think the PE wheel variant was a mistake. Its really easy to deform the pe and there is nothing included to help dish it properly. I'm not really sure where to go from here and its too late to change to the earlier version. Maybe pics tomorrow of where I am so far.

I know of the body difference between them, is there a difference in the suspension and drive train?
