For those with an aversion to winged things, there a plenty of things with wheels and tracks that operated under RAF colours. Ambulances, fire tenders, bowsers, various utility vehicles, the Armoured Car Companies in the Middle East in the 1920's and 30's and the Rock Apes (also known as the RAF Regiment).

For floater fans, there was the RAF Marine Branch with its sea plane tenders, rescue launches and high-speed target tugs.

Cheers,
Rich

oooooh........that is a NEAT idea! I have been pawing thru a bunch of old MILITARY HISTORY magazines, and on the cover of the one I am reading is an SE-5A...IF the build time is a bit long, like ya know a year, or at least 'til year-end, I could very much be talked into it!

there are some other greats popping to mind, like they mighty Typhoon, the Hurricane, Spit's of all manners, Avro Vulcan, BAC lightning, to name but a few!

Neat article about Douglas Bader.

I'm up for a Scramble-- it'll give me an excuse to build the Airfix Defiant I've got!

I'm in too. I have a couple Lightnings and some RAF airfield vehicles to do for this. I hope it goes for a year as well.
