Mr Surfacer Mahogany?

I just did a bit of research, I wanted to see what different abrasive materials are out there to use as texturing.

It turns out that Alumina is the most widely used and virgin alumina is the purest. Alumina is grayish, virgin Alumina is brown. Since it's available in all different mesh sizes, including 500 and 1000, I bet Mr Surfacer is just plain old Aluminum Oxide (same stuff of most sandpapers) in a binder.
