That's an old eBay trick.
Instead of having to cancel/ relist when you run out of stock, you edit the price so no one will buy it until you have it again, then drop to normal.
Personally I'd never do it because I don't want the idea that as a seller I'm insane, but I guess they bank on people not paying attention to the seller itself.
On eBay you can't give feedback without the sale, but on Amazon can't anyone review anything, whether they bought it or not?
