Well for the second item on the bench. Been on going for a while now. Members of MBL will know the start of it, but the story i wanted to tell has evolved.

I was looking through some images on the internet and came across this little beauty and thought that I had something i could use in the stash to do something like it. So this picture was just an inspiration. :pinch:

So I remember reading and was reminded by a fellow modeler of the story in Anthony Beevor's "Stalingrad" and there's a section in there about Major Reichel who in June 1942 crashed his Storch 3 miles behind Russian lines with all the plans "Case Blue" in his possession.

With a lot of artist licence, i used on side of this story and imagination to show just one possible outcome to Major Reichel.

Case Blue (German: Fall Blau), later renamed Operation Braunschweig,[8] was the German Armed Forces' (Wehrmacht) name for its plan for the 1942 strategic summer offensive in southern Russia between 28 June and 24 November 1942.

The Soviet army command (Stavka) failed to discern the direction of the main German strategic offensive anticipated in 1942, even though they were in possession of the German plans. On 19 June, the chief of operations of the 23rd Panzer Division, Major Joachim Reichel, was shot down over Soviet-held territory while flying an observation aircraft over the front near Kharkov. The Soviets recovered maps from his aircraft detailing the exact German plans for Case Blue. The plans were handed over to Stavka, in Moscow.

Joseph Stalin, however, believed it to be a German ruse,[19] remaining convinced that the primary German strategic goal in 1942 would be Moscow.

As I said maybe just a little bigger than needed but needing something inside and was amazed at the price of the goodies i may need, so off to starting looking at scratch building

With now the scratch building of the inside fully under way things would soon move quick forward and more complex.

I am no specialist but the bricks sizes seem too big and not straight enough If you understand what I mean?

Dig it! If those walls as just frames remember to put those cross member things between the uprights.

Love the idea.

:popcorn

Mike, Piet, thanks for your kind words and Bob for your help.

More updates to load and bring the story up to date. :frantic :frantic :good:

I wonder how big this scene will eventually be as the Tristar Stork is not that small!

Regards,

Sharkmouth that's a good question. The idea was to leave the building on the base that you can see on the pictures which is 15 inches by 10. With the building being about 16 inches tall the Storch sitting in the building wasn't to bad.

But my biggest problem is I see new idea's in which i want to add to the finished build so now the base is 24 x 14 inches which allows me to add the street detail. Storage thou will always be the problem. But I'm luck to have a hobby room and as the build take me a long time room should be ok for now.
