Runabout

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
I saw this AMT kit at the local Office Suppy/Hobby Store here in town. I'll admit I kinda laughed at it. I purchased other things and left. Well the rest of the day I thought about it. Thinking you know that boat would be cool painted up all glossy in the different wood tones. I really like those Chris Craft boats. Enough said a couple days I went and got it. I pretty sure you guys know I just can't build something from the box. Plus I like tanks which really means I like my stuff dirty and worn.

The kit, AMT 3 in 1 custom boat.

I started by sticking the engine together.

Made some casting texture on the front of the engine

Now for something I've never really done, scribbing a kit. I kinda messed up by taking pictures. Sorry I just jumped in. I also started to make some of the hull support in the engine room.

I started to make the engine mounts look more like the ones on a Chris Craft boat

That's all until I can get back to the bench. Hopefully Monday if not properly after I redo the hobby room

That light and dark planking on the old Chris-craft boats screams awesome at me, looking forward to following along. Some inspirational music, perhaps?

Contrary to popular belief, they are NOT wearing official Modelers Alliance bowling shirts.

This is going to be great I know! :popcorn

I decided today since I've had two hours sleep I should try my hand at scribing a model.

I used a piece of styrene strip that was appropriately double in wight of the molded planking on the top of the hull, as a guide. By my eyeball engineering compared to unrestored wood boat pictures that looked alright. Used some clamps to hold it. Then went to scribing.
