Styrene balls for rod end bearings

Hawkwrench

Active member
I need some help. I want to use 1mm and 2mm styrene balls to replicate the rod end bearings on the flight controls for my H-60 rotor head.
I've seen them in the net, but I've forgotten where I saw them.
Has anybody seen them?
Thanks!

Tim

Go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and look at the beaded chain in the jewelry section.

DANG! That's what we use at the plant for our Poly stock. They get gaylord size boxes of that stuff. :blink

Tim let me know what size you need, I'll check with one of the engineers ( :smack ) when I get back to work. I think they sweep up enough waste to last you a year.

I checked Plastruct smallest acryic ball they had was 1/8 ... 3.2mm you could order them and sand it down as MP suggested or try some of the 3D printing places .... also might try http://cobracompany.com/ they make Heli parts ... :woohoo:

Tim I tried looking for you ... found some guy on LSP doing the same thing ... :rotf ... not knowing much about eggbeaters ... other than watching "The Whirly-birds" back in the Sixty's and when My friend and I tried to build a H-13 out of wood scrap 1x1's we found. I looked at the photos and think that Gas patch models my have what you need ...

Have a look and see ... Happy New Year ...

Thanks guys for all the replies. Sword, I'm looking more for the ball in the middle of the rod end.
I plan on sanding and shaping strip styrene for the ends of the PC rods on the rotor head. I just need the right size balls for the rod end bearing.
I saw some on the net, but I didn't bookmark it for later.
A true Simpson moment-Dooh!!! :bang head
