Here's my progress so far.

I'll need to draw out where the pup will go along the trench wall and use my Dremel to grind down a place to have him snuggled down in the leaves. I plan on putting at least the helmet in the trench to show signs of it's former occupants.

I also need some help. Not much of a figure guy. Can someone please explain how the sling for the Garand goes together? Dragon's instructions are so helpful, not.

Alrighty, time to start putting some paint on this figure. I'll be doing most of the work with washes.

These will be used on the clothing...

I'll add washes and dry brushing Vallejo's OD.

Here's what I'll be using for the flesh...

The first step is to apply a wash of Devlan Mud...

Or should I move it away from the pup and let the viewer search for the pup? If so, I'll hollow out the helmet and put it upside down away from the dog.

Very Cool technique ! I'm Diggin' it ! I'd say leave th helmet there , I'm sure th lil' pooch would've found it as cover & protection ! Maybe add a Ration can or box to th scene busted open &pillaged by th pooch ? ( just a thought , My $.02{USD} )
