1/35th Figure Painting Practice

Tony lee

Master at Arms
I haven't tried painting any figures in a long time and these came with my Tamiya Wespe kit so it wouldn't be a big deal if I blew it.
While waiting on my StuG wash to dry for a couple of days I got these out and here's my effort.

Critique away good or bad and helpful tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am no expert, but if I were you I would check out this book.

https://www.amazon.com/Paint-Guide-Figures-World-War/dp/2352502985/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1485267768&sr=8-17&keywords=painting+military+figures

I am not sure what level you are trying to attain with your figures, but to match the skill level of your armor, I suggest the following.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNB3XY67Q-I

This video, while not for figure painting is a VERY GOOD basic use of the color wheel, which is somewhat counter intuitive, when blending colors to lighten and darken for highlights and shadows. You should also seek out some guide for blending tones as well.

My next victims:

Out of the DML 15cm sIG33 kit, planning to man the Bison II's with them.
The details are clean and sharp too.

Hmmm, those guys are just trying to get ahead. :pinch:

Looking forward to them!

:good:

I painted some added parts on the Bison II's and while that is drying I applied the base colors on the figures.

I noticed a lot of mix and match uniforms while doing research for the Bisons and since these will be divided up between the two i'm building why not do the same to add some interest.

Thanks for stopping by the shop today.

OK here's the first face:

I wasn't trying for a Hitler look alike but with that dirty upper lip you could've fool me. :D

I need your opinions and should I give him a shave or not?

I'll use a different method on the next one.

OK faces are pretty much done except for touching up after they dry.

I'll finish painting the hands after the uniforms are painted.

Thank You
