Vacuform group build

I haven't built one in many blue moons and am getting the urge to do one. I suspect that since many consider them as an obsolete kit form that there won't be much interest but I thought I'd throw it out in case anyone else wants to share the misery

I'll be glad to observe your pain Garry but I have only attempted vac form once

It was painful :blink

Cheers, Christian B)

I have a couple vac kits in my stash. One I would probably build, and one the jury is very out on at the moment as to whether I'll ever attempt the build. The only thing it has that I think would be usable, is the fuselage. Everything else I think I'll either have to scrounge up, or scratch build.

I have none and they scare the bejesus out of me. Saw a 1:72 747 once, wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. What about opening it up to something more broad, like a nonstandard, anything but plastic...hmm...have to work on the name. But open it to Vacuum Form, Brass, Resin even wood or paper?

I had a friend build a 1/32 scale P61 he did a fantastic job about 25 years ago. Total different way of building. I would enjoy watching someone build build them.

Anything but injection molded ? They had one by that title over on Large Scale Planes earlier this year, there were some great builds both vacuform and scratch. I have a half dozen or so resin kits in the stash I could do as well. It would need to be an year long campaign me thinks.

A year for sure Gary, I got the Hawk and Spirit I could do, not as daunting as Vacform so I'll be in with them.

Ok so we need another name then. :hmmm

Like Gary, the Anything but Injected build was great. As for a new name...

I am NOT in as I do have several MPM vacuum-formed kits still (SB-2 comes to mind), and while better than most (includes PE, film, and injection molded detail parts) they still require loads of time.

Regards,

How about
NOT out of the box

I am luckily not going to participate BUT I will enjoy looking at you guys do it a lot (y)
Plus should a campaign such as this not only have 5 that want to play rather than the usual 10 as it is much more specialised and folowing along will help us plebs a lot.

That would be an option for me as well. I have a couple Viking Models kits, the ALVIN submarine, and the Triest II bathyscaphe. Both are roto-molded resin hulls w/ lots of white metal components. Been considering starting on the ALVIN but havent yet. I think I'd much rather work on either of these kits then the vacuform kits I've got.

Off the Beaten Path, I like it.

I own a vac-form kit, but I need a nice clean OOB build next. I would participate but it's just the wrong time for me.

I like this Gary, I even have a Wings SOC Seagull vac kit that I could do, but as Scrodes said, not a good time for me!

Actually I was thinking timeline wise sometime after the first of the year. I still have two campaign entries to finish and I haven't done my CTA kits yet, would that be a better time ?

This is for sure a nice idea for a GB but I won't participate. Besides Vac formed and Resin there are some injected which would fullfill too Mach2 kits i.e.
