You read a book or a magazine or maybe a news article. Maybe its a comic and something struck your fancy. So you build it. Can be fiction, sci fi, steampunk, whatever. You would have to cite the book or article and then build whatever. Figures, planes, trains, automobiles, armour, boats.
PS you cant quote a particular referance book because we almost all use referances anyways. Examples, Invasion of Poland, Batman, Flight of the Intruder, Snoopy, etc.
