Movie Campaign

Here's a suggestion.

1941. Not necessarily the year but the Movie!

Pick any vehicle or setting from the movie and give it the Modeler's Alliance treatment. That simple. This would be a great way to blend in both Armor, Aircraft and civilian subjects.

Vehicles that could be modeled would be:
[ul]
Japanese Sub

Capt Wild Bill Kelso's P40 Tomahawk

40mm AA gun

U.S. 2 1/2 ton truck

B17E in natural metal finish

B24 Mitchell

Multitude of T6 Texans

Hollis P. (you ain't gonna get shit out of me, I've been constipated all week long and it ain't a damn thing you can do about it) Wood's pickup truck. I'm sure someone can ID that truck. Was it a Model T?

M3 Lee Tank (Markings the same as Lulubelle in honor of Sahara)

Maybe even a bust of Capt. Wolfgang von Kleinschmidt (KLEINSchmidt?) :blink

See where I'm going? Anything that appears in the Movie 1941 which, considering the slapstick comedy that it is, vehicles, locations and even some events is very historical.

heck, if you're feeling REALLY into the spirit of this, recreate the model of the farriswheel and the Santa Monica pier.

HOLLYWOOD!!!!!!!!

If you haven't seen the movie, treat yourself. It's a hit or miss with some folks, but knowing modelers and their appreciation of the time period this movie is set in, I bet you would enjoy it.

Whatcha say?

why did i have to think of glenn when i read this?

lot's of fun diorama possibilities! should be fun for anybody contributing! it's worth taking it into consideraton!

I truely think this could be a load of fun. A M3 driving through a paint factory - or Japanese sailors trying to put the radio down the hatch -

Hey you guys [ Moon ] , started it .........

" Jesus Palomino , .......... a Natzee , .......... I knew it , you're all in kahoots "

" Ward Douglas don't you dare fire that gun in this house !!! "

" What the hell was that ? " , ...... " It appears to be a large Negro sir "

" We tried to hold the block sir but the plane broke through our perimeter "

Well, I have the I-19 Japanese submarine with the AFV Club update set that includes wooden decks and better PE details. Will that do?

Regards,

yeah, that'll do it...

I think I'd still like to do Lulubelle, as she came out of the paint factory...but before the turpentine factory.

And for our figurine friends, the girl hanging on to the periscope on the japanese sub in the beginning of the movie, and the crewman pointing and screaming "hollywood!" :)

is there going to be a campaign? i feel tempted to join :) never done a group build before ever, but this sounds fun!

If we get enough people to join we'll do it. If not, I'm going to do that Lee tank anyway, someday... :mpup

Maybe open it up for any movie prop?

a movie campaign would be nice :) you have Kelly's hero's with oddball and he's sherman tank for example.
