Here's what I'm doing.

This will be exempt from the prize drawing.

Picked up the kit last year, think it's appropriate for our cause this time.

Doing the US Army Medic "Nisei" with Dog from Minute Man Models.

Knowing that Wahine is a Polynesian girl, wasn't sure if the title was correct. So, I displayed the photographs and did find out the caption for the photo:
"A Combat Medic of the 442nd Infantry Regiment, holding the medical platoon's mascot, Wahine."

Excellent choice (plus we know the pup is a girl).

Regards,

I remember reading about this photo years ago but can't seem to find it now. It was somewhere in Italy and had more information about the Medic. Anyone know more about it?

Wikipedia has a referenced page on the unit which was comprised of Hawaiian Japanese-Americans.

What I rememeber reading was this soldier's name and some background. Well maybe I'll find an old bookmark or something.

Tom I missed your post, I'd gladly take that Jack!

I hope I do this justice... :woohoo:

Just checking to see if I have a good start shot. Got the parts in the ultrasonic for cleaning. Will start cleaning up today and see about assembly. Tamiya primer will work don't y'all think?

Found some rough spots, you can even see one on the back of the helmet, pretty bad step seam. One down his back also. Might not be a problem making even but getting the texture back may be troublesome for me. I have to say the head is very nicely done, well defined but since this is my first bust, what do I know?

:rotf

Only thing I have are the parts, haven't even assembled it yet. Will work on cleaning them up tonight. :soldier
