S Model M551 Sheridan

I have been putting off starting the Sheridan for some time.
As I have been trying to complete as many shelf queens as possible by the first of the new year.
But, masking, painting, masking, painting (B-36) - sanding, priming, sanding, priming was getting monotonous (C-141).
So out comes the S Model kit of the M551 Sheridan (early).

To get the Vietnam version I will need to make the shields around the commanders hatch and racks.

So out come the note card and .05 brass.
Drawing out the shields on the note card and tracing.

Adding the side shield made of plastic.

Then comes the bending and fitting.

The height of the ACAV shield should equal the height of the side shields.

Finally.

Wow that REALLY looks great! I was keen on the Tamiya in 1/35 scale that was about to come out, but now thinking I shall wait and see what the Rye Field Model Sheridan looks like, as I am keen to build one up in a small 1980's Panama Invasion vignette
