Ive been doing this Dragon kit for some time now and guess what I forgot to take pictures so here we go

Base kit is Dragon photo etch for the Flakvierling is from Griffon just love those barrels :)
Misc items are scratch build, wheel air tubes, rubberised eyesights for the flak, assorted stowage etc etc etc
Undercarriage is muddied up using Vallejo sandy paste which is brilliant for such effects.

Upper Vehicle primed with Tamiya grey lower is primed with Games workshop Matt black but doesnt look all that Matt more satiny ,...reason Ive done this is purely for a test to see if it makes a difference to my final painting ( its always been my downfall leaving unpainted bits on the lower regions wheels and tracks but not this time oh no !!)

Almost time for some proper paint :) Panzer Grey,.. never done this before but I will be using Tamiya to achieve this.

ANDY,

Looks Great ! Can't wait to see it in th Grey !! Are those Valve stems I spy on th tires ? How did you like those D.S. tires ? Personally I hate them. I primed mine with Tamiya's Grey primer. let it sit for 24 hours. Then I shot it with Tamiya's Flat Black - let that sit for 24 hours then dry brushed it with Poly-S Grimy Black & I ended up knocking off th paint & primer down to th bare DS ... !! I was pissed !! but I covered it with some Grimy Black .. But WTH ! I just really hate th DS stuff ! Were you able to put any wear on these tires ? I tried & they acted a lot like th 'Ol school Tamiya "Black Rubber " tires.

Do you plan on adding any Dark Yellow streaks for camo ?

ERIK

Hi Erik,

Yeah they are stems and thats the phrase I was looking for,.... Valve stems :) I couldnt think for the life of me what they were called

Pretty easy to do Ive got some Tichy trains rivets etc and I just glued the uncut rivet on and it looks the business !!

I did think the tyres were a right pain to glue then go back and fill in the gaps but they turned out ok
I just left them as they were with no wear :)

Not sure about the yellow streaks as yet Ill see what the grey comes out like first and if its boring then Ill camo it

Andy, don't know how I over looked this earlier..oh yeah, photobucket... :mpup

That texturing under the primer, is that for mud and stuff later?

Thanks for the comments all

Yeah Pups, I always texture the undercarriage first as it gives that well caked on impression that you see on all vehicles that drive through mud and stuff

A few places need a touch of primer like the ammo cartridges and they are the kit ones with Griffon additions I tried to make a PE cartridge but sadly didnt go to plan.

I`m going to add a bit of strapping to the side mesh for the Crews personal equipment

I need to do this before I head back to the UK on the 27th otherwise you will all have to wait till next year :D

Wait a sec...you're not on photobucket@!@

Neat idea about the texturing. What do you use to get that texture?

Pups, its Vallejo`s fine sandy paste it works a treat especially under the wheel arches which is where loads of crap settle
Another bonus is that you can gloop it on quite thickly if you wish, I had a few sink holes that needed to be filled on the undercarriage ,which I neglected to do during the build :( however they were filled in using this stuff and it works great.

otherwise I usually stipple it on using an old brush to get the desired effect

I think it adds dimension

I wanted to depict this Vehicle on the outskirts of Stalingrad having trucked it way across Russian picking up dirt and mud en route

:)

Vallejo Sandy Paste 23262

Although the numbers differ on the Vallejo website :blink

With a base mix of Tamiya Panzer Grey Flat Blue and White, I continued with a dusting effect of Earth and Buff mixture, nice subtle blending of dust and worn patches through crew movement..none of which you can see due to my crappy lighting but I think Im getting the hang of this photo thing a bit better,....
